V Modern Italian is seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant General Manager to join the leadership team for our newest location opening in Kansas City this fall.
This is an opportunity to play an important role in a high-profile new restaurant opening while helping build the team, culture, and operational foundation of V Modern Italian’s newest market.
The Assistant General Manager will partner closely with the General Manager to prepare the restaurant for opening, develop the hourly team, and lead daily operations following launch. We are looking for a hands-on leader who leads from the floor, communicates clearly, and understands how to balance exceptional hospitality with disciplined execution.
Key ResponsibilitiesNew Restaurant Opening
Support the General Manager and company leadership throughout the opening process, including hourly recruitment, onboarding, training, restaurant setup, systems implementation, operational readiness, and execution of opening standards.
Daily Operations
Help lead all aspects of daily restaurant operations, ensuring consistency in hospitality, service execution, cleanliness, organization, food and beverage quality, and overall restaurant readiness.
Maintain a visible leadership presence on the floor and actively support the team throughout service.
Team Leadership and Development
Assist with recruiting, hiring, training, coaching, and developing the hourly team.
Lead pre-shifts, provide real-time feedback, reinforce company expectations, and help create a culture rooted in accountability, communication, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Identify high-potential team members and support their development into trainers, shift leaders, and future managers.
Guest Experience
Support a hospitality-first culture that consistently delivers memorable guest experiences.
Engage with guests throughout service, anticipate potential issues, and lead thoughtful and timely guest recovery when expectations are not met.
Financial and Operational Performance
Partner with the General Manager to support sales growth, labor management, scheduling, inventory controls, purchasing, food and beverage costs, and controllable expenses.
Understand daily and weekly performance results and help translate financial goals into clear operational priorities for the team.
Brand Standards
Execute and uphold company systems, service standards, operating procedures, and brand expectations.
Help maintain consistency across every shift while providing feedback that supports continued improvement and future company growth.
Leadership and Culture

Qualifications
- Two or more years of restaurant management experience in a high-volume environment
- Assistant General Manager, Service Manager, or comparable leadership experience preferred
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop hourly restaurant teams
- Strong understanding of restaurant operations, service standards, scheduling, and labor management
- Working knowledge of food and beverage costs, inventory controls, and restaurant financial performance
- Excellent communication, organization, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills
- Ability to lead effectively under pressure while maintaining a strong floor presence
- Experience supporting a new restaurant opening or growing hospitality brand is preferred
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours during the opening period as needed

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 – $75,000.00 per year
