Role Purpose

To manage the effective day-to-day operation of the charity by improving organisational capacity, reducing the administrative burden on trustees, strengthening volunteer coordination, and leading the planning and delivery of events and activities.

The postholder will help improve the long-term sustainability and ability to deliver high‑quality community boating experiences while supporting our volunteer-led ethos

Key Responsibilities

·      Support charity administration, governance processes, and organisational record keeping

·      Plan and coordinate bank holiday open weekends, events, and associated operational activity

·      Support grant applications, funding administration, and reporting requirements

·      Assist trustees with meeting coordination, action tracking, and compliance requirements

·      Coordinate volunteers, including communications, records, and scheduling support

·      Support operational scheduling, activity coordination, and communication across teams

·      Assist with organisational communications, promotion, and stakeholder engagement as required

Person Specification

 

Essential

·      Strong organisational and administrative skills

·      Experience in operations, administration, events, or project coordination

·      Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently

·      Grant funding or fundraising experience

·      Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

·      Ability to communicate effectively with people from a wide range of different backgrounds

·      Good IT and digital administration skills

·      Commitment to equality and diversity

 

Desirable

·      Charity or voluntary sector experience

·      Experience of working with a diverse group of volunteers, community groups, or small organisations

·      Event coordination experience

·      Interest in heritage, waterways, or community organisations 

Reports to

Chair / Board of Trustees

 

Location

Flexible hybrid role combining home working, limited office-based work, and on-site attendance as required.

 

Hours

30 hours per week (4 days), worked flexibly to meet operational needs. Occasional evening and weekend working may be necessary, with time off in lieu arrangements.

 

Contract

Fixed-term 2-year contract, subject to funding.

 

Salary

£24 -28k pro rata
