Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Line Cook role based in Toronto, ON. The Line Cook prepares, cooks, and plates menu items according to recipes, portion standards, and presentation guidelines, while maintaining speed and consistency during busy service periods. Responsibilities include setting up and stocking stations, ensuring ingredient quality and freshness, following food safety and sanitation standards, and keeping work areas clean and organized. The Line Cook collaborates closely with the kitchen team and leadership to support smooth service, communicate ticket times, and adapt to changing volume and priorities. The role also involves assisting with prep work, receiving and storing inventory, and contributing to a positive, respectful, and team-oriented kitchen culture.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a line cook, prep cook, or in a similar back-of-house role in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
- Strong knife skills and proficiency with common cooking methods (grilling, sautéing, frying, roasting, and finishing plates to spec).
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation practices, and safe handling procedures, with the ability to maintain a clean and organized workstation.
- Ability to follow recipes, portion standards, and plating specifications while maintaining consistency, quality, and speed.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with a collaborative approach to working with chefs, kitchen teammates, and front-of-house staff.
- High level of reliability, time management, and ability to perform under pressure during peak periods and extended shifts.
- Openness to feedback, willingness to learn, and a growth mindset aligned with ongoing training and development.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the operation.
- Food Handler certification or equivalent is an asset; formal culinary training is considered an advantage but not required.
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada and ability to work on-site in Toronto, ON.
