Kitchen Porter – Gourmet Food Parlour, Salthill (Galway)
Gourmet Food Parlour is looking for a dedicated and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our team in Salthill, Galway. This is a full time role of 30+ hours a week over 5 days, flexibility is needed Mon-Sun.
As an essential member of our kitchen team, you'll play a key role in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and organisation – helping to keep our busy kitchens running smoothly and efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Wash and sanitise dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen surfaces, floors, and work areas.
- Manage waste and recycling in line with company policies.
- Assist with receiving and organising deliveries, ensuring all items are checked and stored correctly.
- Tidy and organise food storage areas, ensuring everything is clearly labelled and properly rotated.
- Date-label produce and manage stock using the FIFO (First In, First Out) system.
- Support chefs with basic food preparation tasks when required.
- Ensure equipment is properly cleaned and maintained.
- Follow all health and safety and food hygiene procedures.
- Work as part of a team to ensure a smooth and efficient service.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working in a professional kitchen.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility to work weekends and busy periods.
- Must hold a valid EU passport or work permit/visa.
- Must be able to speak English.
- HACCP knowledge is an advantage.
