Position: Host, Library Bar (Full-Time)
Responsibilities
- Report to duty punctually to maintain the integrity of co‑workers and guests.
- Consistently offer personal and friendly service.
- Possess full knowledge of the menu, beverage lists in your outlet and all other special promotions taking place in the hotel.
- Keep the host stand neat and clean at all times.
- Have a complete understanding of daily duties (seating and greeting guests, accurately taking reservations, handling phones, menu changeovers, newspaper pickup, checking mail, filing log book entries, etc.).
- Track all covers in the dining room per station and have general knowledge of the union agreement.
- Help guests meet their colleagues by properly using the waiting list form.
- Attend all pre‑shift, weekly and monthly meetings to ensure open lines of communication between all employees.
- Actively participate in health and safety procedures to reduce workplace‑related accidents.
- Read and understand all hotel policies, procedures and departmental standards outlined in the employee handbook.
- Carry out any miscellaneous duties pertaining to the total operation of the outlet as requested by your direct supervisor.
- Feel comfortable voicing opinions, suggestions and comments on improving the operation of the restaurant and the guests experience.
- Maintain teamwork and good work ethics with all guests (internal and external) by assisting co‑workers with any duties, without compromising the guests’ dining experience.
- Complete all duties assigned to you before leaving for the day.
- Communicate effectively with the servers regarding reservations, last‑minute changes, larger parties and special requests.
- Offer coats check when necessary and retrieve guest coats when departing.
- Inform guests of departmental promotions.
Qualifications
- Previous work experience in a restaurant or food and beverage setting.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a team‑player attitude.
- Ability to multi‑task when dealing with high volume of guest requests.
- Smart Serve certification required.
- Experience with Open Table is an asset.
Physical Aspects of the Position
- Constant standing and walking throughout shift.
- Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs.
- Constant kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting.
- Frequent ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps.
