Hospitality Support Worker – Saskatoon Campus (Casual 2026-27)
This casual position covers sick calls, vacation leave, and large catering events. Hours are primarily 7 am–3 pm, with occasional night or weekend shifts.
Job Duties
- Provide support to the Hospitality and Tourism training programs.
- Customer service and cashier duties using various systems; process accurate transactions and complete end‑of‑day procedures.
- Assist in food preparation for hot and cold items, ensuring Food Safe conditions are met or exceeded.
- Communicate with programming regarding preparation of cold kitchen items to support a seamless customer experience.
- Work banquet, quick, counter or table service styles; serve as bartender for functions.
- Adhere to portion control and service guidelines.
- Label items for sale and update daily menu information and pricing.
- Fill and stock as necessary; organize till floats and prepare change orders.
- Address customer inquiries.
- Assist with receiving and dispersal of food and supply orders.
- Assist with banquet set‑ups, service, tear‑down, and general clean‑up after banquets.
- Complete dishwashing and cleaning tasks as required.
- Act as a team member who accepts personal accountability and holds others accountable.
- Communicate with intent, ensuring the receiver fully understands.
- Facilitate promotional activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications,
Skills and Abilities
(QSA)
- High school diploma or equivalent (up to 12 years of formal education).
- At least 2 years’ experience in a food‑service setting.
- Food Safe Level 1 Certification.
- Excellent customer‑service and professional communication skills.
- Ability to address minor workplace issues that arise during day‑to‑day operations.
- Knowledge of basic service standards and ability to multitask in all service styles (counter, table, bartending, banquet).
- Basic understanding of point‑of‑sale operations and Moneris devices.
- Ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment.
- Knowledge of safe handling of chemicals used in food service settings.
- Bondable.
- Computer skills in common food‑service software (labeling, online ordering, scheduling, time sheets).
- Basic product knowledge of menu item ingredients.
