General Manager – Australia Operations
A premium Chinese owned Australian agribusiness and food supply group is looking for an experienced, commercially sharp General Manager to take full operational and P&L ownership of its high-end Australian asset portfolio.
The key requirement for this role is developing new export markets from Australia to the rest of the world. Meat is the key and most valuable category experience.
The Role
- P&L & Risk Ownership: Manage the financial budget, maximize return on investment, and navigate cross-border trade, tariff, and quota fluctuations.
- Full-Chain Management: Coordinate end-to-end logistics and multi-site operations across premium pastures (Wagyu/Angus beef), orchards, and boutique vineyards.
- Channel Diversification: Lead brand building and expand sales networks across wholesale, retail, catering, and e-commerce channels
Requirements
- Financial Literacy: Competence in managing entire P&L, constructing operational budgets, and steering effective cost-control metrics.
- Industry Experience: Ideally 8 years or more of management experience within agriculture, fresh produce, meat products, livestock/pasture, horticulture or international food trade (prior GM tenure highly preferred).
- Cross-Cultural Capability: Deep familiarity with the China-Australia import/export environment and strong cross-cultural communication skills – Chinese language skills are a plus.
Compensation & Work Location
- Budget: Up to $300,000 AUD fixed base + super + bonuses and profit sharing
- Location: Headquartered in the Sydney CBD
