Event Planner / Event Sales
Local catering company now hiring for an Event Planner / Event Sales. This role is a mix on incoming and soliciting new business, building event orders, and planning the execution of a flawless event.
Job duties for the event planner include:
• Solicit new catering customers through prospecting and cold calls.
• Accurately develop and write catering contracts
• Work with the Chef on menu.
• Maintain a thorough knowledge of menu items through frequent tasting.
• Maintain and foster current client base with various sales techniques.
• Develop and Maintain a list of preferred vendors for flowers, music, audio visual equipment, etc.
• Effectively attempt to attain sales goals.
• Oversee any catered event that requires a personal visit.
• Maintain a positive pleasant, attitude every shift.
• Perform calmly and effectively in an extremely busy and stressful work environment.
• Be able to work a variety of hours, days and shifts, including weekends and increased work schedules.
Requirements for the Event Planner role:
• 3+ years of catering sales experience; restaurant/hospitality industry.
• Experience with developing relationships while cultivating new clientele
• A guest-focused, detailed approach to sales and service
• Ability to thrive in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
• Skilled in polished & professional communication (in-person, phone & correspondence)
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with parties/special events
• Proven knowledge of current industry trends & news
• Experience with outside sales in downtown Minneapolis
