This position is funded by funding from the Government of Canada’s Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) program. The Canada Summer Jobs program provides wage subsidies to support employers in creating quality summer work experiences for youth.
To be eligible for this role under the CSJ program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment period
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
The successful candidate will be expected to work SuperWalk weekend, September 12 and 13, 2026.
This position is a hybrid position requiring attendance in the office 1 day per week.
Job Overview
The Event Services Coordinator is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service to Parkinson Canada’s event participants and donors, ensuring their needs are met before, during, and after the events. This role focuses on enhancing the participant and donor experience for Parkinson Canada SuperWalk, Pedaling for Parkinson’s, and Fundraising Your Way, through efficient communication, problem-solving, and support, contributing to the overall success of the events.
What You’ll Be Doing
Lead customer service for the Events team
- Manage the call queues and email inboxes for SuperWalk, Pedaling for Parkinson's, Fundraising Your Way, and Growling Beaver, handling all incoming inquiries and triaging where appropriate.
- Provide online chat support for SuperWalk and Pedaling for Parkinson's.
- Handle participant and donor issues promptly and professionally, finding effective solutions to enhance their experience. Coordinate with other event staff and departments to resolve complex issues and provide seamless support.
- Work SuperWalk weekend to provide customer service to participants while staff are at events.
- Collect and analyze participant and donor feedback to identify areas for improvement
- Monitor and respond to comments and inquires on our Facebook groups.
Support event logistics and relationship management as required
- Assist with recruitment calls for participants under $1,000.
- Assist coordinators with web updates i.e., adding sponsor logos and agendas to local pages.
- Assist with logistics, including event kit packing and walk-in-a-box mailings.
- Pull participant and fundraising reports.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree in appropriate discipline.
- Proven experience in customer service, preferably in an event management context.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and proactive approach to customer support.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite, Online Event Fundraising Software).
- Flexibility to work event weekends as required.
- Ability to travel within Canada.
- Valid G License.
- Bilingual (French/English) is an asset.
