Job Purpose
Responsible for preparing food items for banquet functions and kitchen outlets in accordance with established recipes, procedures, and quality standards.
Supports the Chef de Partie and kitchen team in daily operations, including supervising junior kitchen staff, ensuring food quality, and maintaining a clean and efficient working environment. Acts as second-in-charge of the assigned station when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare food items according to standard recipes and presentation guidelines.
- Assist the Chef de Partie and kitchen team in daily operations and assigned station duties.
- Supervise and guide Cooks 1, 2, and 3 in food preparation and daily tasks.
- Ensure consistency in food quality, portioning, and presentation.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, safety, and sanitation in all food preparation areas.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and in proper working condition at all times.
- Monitor proper storage and handling of ingredients to prevent wastage and spoilage.
- Inspect and maintain store rooms, refrigerators and freezers to ensure cleanliness and proper stock management.
- Ensure kitchen equipment is properly used and maintained in good working condition.
- Assist in kitchen operations during the absence of the Chef de Partie when required.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience in kitchen operations, preferably in a hotel or high-volume environment.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and food safety standards.
- Relevant Certificate or Diploma in Culinary Arts is an added advantage.
- Able to follow instructions, work independently, and support senior chefs efficiently.
- Good teamwork, discipline, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
