Job Summary and Purpose
Trinity United Methodist Church is seeking a dependable and service-oriented Cook / Kitchen Utility Assistant to support our Food Service Ministry. This position assists with food preparation, cooking, sanitation, dishwashing, and event support while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hospitality.
Responsibilities and
Job Duties
- Assist with preparing and cooking meals.
- Demonstrate strong knife skills and food preparation techniques.
- Follow safe food handling, sanitation, and storage procedures.
- Monitor and maintain proper food temperatures.
- Operate commercial kitchen equipment safely.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen.
- Support church functions and special events.
- Assist with inventory organization and product rotation.
Qualifications
- Previous food service, restaurant, school cafeteria, catering, or commercial kitchen experience preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Knowledge of proper cooking, holding, and storage temperatures.
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Food Handler certification preferred or ability to obtain.
Preferred Skills
- Knife skills and food preparation experience.
- Understanding of HACCP principles.
- Allergen awareness.
- Experience with commercial kitchen equipment.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform repetitive kitchen tasks safely.
