Prepares and cooks a variety of hot and cold dishes according to standardized recipes, menu plans, and customer or contract requirements. Daily responsibilities include food preparation, portioning, cooking, and presentation, while maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene, and quality. The role involves collaborating with kitchen staff, following HSE and quality procedures, managing ingredients and inventory efficiently, and ensuring equipment and work areas are clean and well-maintained. The Cook may also assist in menu planning, special events, and adapting dishes for dietary or cultural requirements.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Cook, Chef Assistant, or similar role in catering, hospitality, or industrial kitchen environments.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, menu planning, and portion control, with a focus on quality and consistency.
- Understanding of food safety, hygiene standards, and HSE practices, including safe handling, storage, and cleaning procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen, including effective time management, teamwork, and communication skills.
- Basic numeracy and record-keeping skills for inventory, portioning, and kitchen documentation.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required by catering operations.
- Vocational training or certification in culinary arts, professional cooking, or hospitality is preferred.
- Experience in large-scale or contract catering, particularly in Oil & Gas or industrial sites, is an advantage.
- Ability to follow instructions, standard recipes, and safety procedures, and adapt to company policies and international standards.
