Role Description The Chef de rang at Mama & Zita SA is a full-time, on-site role based in Geneva. In this position, the team member oversees a designated section of the dining room, ensuring guests receive attentive, courteous, and efficient service from arrival to departure. Daily tasks include setting up and organizing the station, presenting menus, taking orders, coordinating with the kitchen, serving food and beverages, and managing billing and payments. The Chef de rang also supervises commis or support staff in their section, maintains cleanliness and presentation standards, and responds promptly and professionally to guest requests or issues. Close collaboration with the wider front-of-house team is essential to maintain service quality, optimize table turnover, and uphold the restaurant’s Mediterranean-inspired guest experience.
Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Chef de rang or similar front-of-house role in a high-quality restaurant environment.
  • Strong knowledge of table service standards, including order taking, sequence of service, and wine and beverage service.
  • Familiarity with Mediterranean cuisine and local products, with the ability to describe dishes and make recommendations to guests.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a service-oriented mindset and the ability to create a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Ability to train, guide, and coordinate junior service staff within the assigned section.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the capacity to handle a fast-paced dining room and multiple tables at once.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor, with a commitment to punctuality, reliability, and teamwork.
  • Fluency in French; additional languages, especially English, are an advantage in an international environment such as Geneva.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by restaurant operations.
  • Catering or hospitality education or certification is a plus, as well as knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
