Role Description The Chef de Partie is a full-time, on-site role based in Valletta, Malta, and candidates must already reside in Malta. The role involves managing a specific section of the kitchen, preparing and cooking dishes according to restaurant standards, and ensuring consistency in taste, portion, and presentation. Daily tasks include organizing mise en place, monitoring food quality and freshness, and collaborating with the Head Chef and other team members to coordinate service. The Chef de Partie will maintain strict hygiene and safety practices, manage stock for their station, and assist in training and supporting junior kitchen staff. The role also includes contributing ideas for menu improvements and working efficiently during peak service hours.
Qualifications
- Strong food preparation and cooking abilities, with well-developed culinary skills relevant to a Chef de Partie role.
- Knowledge of hygiene, food safety, and kitchen cleanliness standards, with commitment to following regulations and best practices.
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with kitchen and front-of-house teams during service.
- Previous experience in a similar position within a restaurant or hotel kitchen, preferably in Mediterranean or European cuisine.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage time and priorities, and maintain composure during busy periods.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by restaurant operations.
- Must already reside in Malta and be legally authorized to work there.
- Culinary education or vocational training is an advantage but not mandatory if experience is equivalent.
