Role Description The Chef De Partie will work full time on-site at Another Place, The Machrie on the Isle of Islay, supporting the smooth operation of the hotel’s kitchen and restaurant. Responsibilities include preparing and cooking dishes to a high standard, managing a specific section of the kitchen, and ensuring consistency in flavor, presentation, and portion control. The role involves assisting with menu development, mise en place, and stock management, as well as maintaining food safety, hygiene, and allergen standards. The Chef De Partie will collaborate closely with the Head Chef and wider kitchen team, help train and support junior team members, and contribute to a positive, efficient, and guest-focused dining experience.
Qualifications

  • Strong technical cooking skills with experience managing a kitchen section in a quality hotel or restaurant environment.
  • Knowledge of food safety, hygiene regulations, and allergen management, with a commitment to high standards of cleanliness and organization.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented kitchen, including clear communication and collaboration with colleagues.
  • Competence in planning mise en place, managing stock, minimizing waste, and supporting menu development and seasonal specials.
  • Relevant culinary training or professional chef qualifications; food hygiene certification is highly beneficial.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and evenings, with a positive attitude toward living and working on the Isle of Islay.
  • Passion for locally sourced ingredients, modern cuisine, and creating memorable guest experiences.
