Role Description The Catering Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Oundle, responsible for overseeing the planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of catering services across the School. This role manages daily food production and service for pupils, staff, and guests, ensuring high standards of food quality, presentation, hygiene, and safety. The Catering Manager will lead and schedule catering teams, coordinate menus with nutritional and dietary requirements in mind, and manage stock control, ordering, and supplier relationships. They will oversee catering for regular school meals as well as events, functions, and hospitality, ensuring smooth, customer-focused service. The role also involves budget management, cost control, compliance with relevant regulations, and the ongoing training and development of catering staff.
Qualifications
- Proven skills in Catering and Food Service, with experience managing large-scale or multi-site catering operations.
- Hands-on Cooking and Food & Beverage skills, with a strong understanding of menu planning, nutrition, and dietary needs.
- Excellent Customer Service skills, with a focus on delivering a positive dining experience for pupils, staff, and visitors.
- Experience leading and developing teams, including rota planning, performance management, and staff training.
- Sound knowledge of food hygiene, health and safety regulations, and relevant compliance standards (e.g., HACCP).
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with competence in budgeting, cost control, and supplier management.
- Relevant vocational qualification in catering, hospitality management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Ability to work flexibly to support term-time schedules, events, and occasional evening or weekend functions.
