As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced Café Manager to help lead and develop the hospitality offering at our new Port Melbourne venue.

About Bang Bang

Bang Bang will be our strategic partner, helping us design the menu and coordinate the bar and café operation. They bring over 15 years of experience and currently operate more than four venues across Melbourne.

Role Description

This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for overseeing café and hospitality operations while supporting the overall venue experience. We're looking for someone with strong hospitality experience who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys leading teams, and takes pride in delivering exceptional customer service.

The successful candidate will play a key role in launching and growing our café operations while helping create an outstanding experience for members, players, and guests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the venue, ensuring the club runs efficiently and professionally.
  • Lead customer service standards and deliver an exceptional experience for every member and guest.
  • Manage stock control, inventory systems, and supplier relationships across the venue.
  • Coordinate ordering and purchasing to maintain efficient stock levels.
  • Ensure health & safety, cleanliness, and operational compliance standards are maintained.
  • Manage labour costs and drive operational efficiencies.
  • Recruit, onboard, train, and support the venue team.
  • Prepare staff rosters and workforce planning schedules.
  • Oversee the delivery of tournaments, socials, coaching programs, and corporate events.
  • Assist with the setup, launch, and ongoing success of the Port Melbourne venue.
  • Maintain high standards of presentation, organisation, and operational excellence.
  • Support membership growth and contribute to the commercial success of the club.

  • About You
  • Previous experience managing a sports club, hospitality venue, leisure facility, retail operation, or similar environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing teams.
  • Experience with stock control, inventory management, and supplier coordination.
  • Strong understanding of health & safety and operational compliance.
  • Excellent organisational, planning, and multitasking skills.
  • Outstanding communication and customer service abilities.
  • A positive, proactive, and solutions-focused mindset.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
  • Confidence managing multiple priorities and making operational decisions.
  • Availability to work weekends and evenings when required.
